All-Church retreat 2023
come to COWICHAN lake
exploring the word
This year's guest speaker is Carmen Imes, Associate Professor of Old Testament at Biola University in California, and author of "Bearing God's Name: Why Sinai Still Matters".
admiring creation
The Cowichan Lake Outdoor Education & Conference Centre is located
on shores of Cowichan Lake and is owned and run by the town.
getting reacquainted
The schedule for the weekend includes plenty of opportunities to get to know God, ourselves, and each other, a whole lot better.
getting creative
Kathleen Busch will be our special guest and art coordinator this year. To participate in
our creative project, everyone in your family should bring along a broken object
(something small enough to fit in your palm and preferably flat, like a button or a shell). Please bear in mind that the object will not be returned to you afterwards.
-
how to get there
The Cowichan Lake Outdoor Education and Conference Centre
is located on Lakeview Park Road in Lake Cowichan.
-
bring an appetite
Fees include five full meals plus snacks
Coffee, tea, juice, water and snacks available throughout the day.
Food is served buffet style with multiple options at each meal
-
come out and play
We'll have access to swimming and canoeing (lifeguard dependent), volleyball and badminton. We recommend bringing your own sports/game equipment for free time (especially if your kids spent a lot of time at previous camps using the rocket ball court or ping pong table or other onsite rec equipment that won't be available this year)
-
make yourself at home
Camp capacity is 100, so we should have space to spread out.
Room assignments are based on availability. We'll try our best to accommodate special needs, and we'll try to keep families together (though we may have to split up older families based on gender).
Rooms include some for 2 people, as well as some for 4 / 5 / 8. A few have their own washrooms and some are even wheelchair/handicapped accessible. Beds are singles, some are bunks. All bedding, pillows, and towels are provided.
-
stay your way
If you plan to stay at an airbnb, hotel, campsite, or your private cabin instead of at the Centre, there is a discounted rate for staying off-site both nights (¾ of the standard rate).
If you'd prefer to camp nearby, Lakeview Park campsite is a 5 minute drive away (reservations open in May)
-
bring your trailer
The camp can accommodate up to 10 trailers at the upper parking lot area.
There are NO hook ups and NO discount for bringing your own trailer.
