In-person guidelines

Fellowship 9:30 am

Worship 10 am

We realize that we’re all moving at different speeds through these changes.

In order to take a respectful and responsible path that promotes as much unity in the Body as possible, the leadership will be making the following recommendations and plans

staying home if we're sick

We continue to recommend that you do regular health self-checks and stay at home if you are feeling ill or showing symptoms.

masks are optional

Masks are no longer mandatory.

An expanded masks-only section will be available in the sanctuary's southwest corner

NO Capacity limits

Our attendance capacity is now 100%

safe spaces

We are still recommending respecting other's comfort levels regarding distancing. If possible, talk and socialize in small, spread out groups, making use of outdoor spaces as much as possible.

PARTICIPATING ONLINE

We are committed to continuing our online livestream services to make participation available for anyone who cannot attend in person for any reason. We will also be continuing to use a mixture of in-person and pre-recorded volunteers for our prayers, communion thoughts, and scripture readings to encourage full participation from everyone. Please contact the office if you would like to be added to our volunteer rotations!

sanitizing

We will continue to have sanitization stations at the building entrances, inside the auditorium and handwashing stations in the washrooms. We recommend you sanitize upon entering the building and anytime you have a need to do so.

contactless

communion & offering

To decrease our risk through shared contact, we’ve placed the emblems at stations spread throughout the sanctuary and during the service we'll be directed when to pick up open cups and juice and bread (prepared by the deacons) and take these back to our seats.  We'll be led in taking the emblems together during the Communion devotional, and then hand our used cups to the kids collecting them or pop them in empty trays by the sanctuary doors.

We will continue to have a designated station for offerings by the sanctuary door, as well as the use of e-transfer for giving.

A message from the elders - March 11, 2022

To my brothers and sisters of Shelbourne Street Church of Christ,

On behalf of the elders, I want to thank all of you for the love and support that you have shown not only to us but to each other over the last two difficult years.

Many of you have reached out with words of thanks and encouragement for the way the leadership navigated all the information, restrictions, mandates, and changes that have affected our church during the pandemic.  I also realize that not everyone has felt the same about how decisions were made and implemented. At the heart of the decision-making process, was a desire to care for and love our entire congregation.

We have done our best to this point to follow the spirit and letter of the mandates put in place.  In light of the recent government announcement, masks will now be optional going forward at our in-person worship service. We will also rearrange our seating to allow more room for families to sit next to one another.  The mask-only section will remain at the back of the church to accommodate those who need or desire that space. Our services will continue to be streamed online for those who desire to participate and worship from home.

I ask that you continue to pray for one another and for our church as we move into this next phase. Love one another and strive to seek unity as we are all one body in Christ.

Continue to pray for the leadership as we journey forward. Your prayers are needed and cherished. Please reach out to the elders if you have any questions or comments.

Blessings on you all,

Scott Jacobson
