Welcome

We hope that this site will help introduce you to the community of faith that exists here at Shelbourne Street Church. Please tour our site to find out more about our church and how we can serve you.

We are a church with an unswerving commitment to Jesus Christ and the Word of God. As an extension of that, we seek to love people and point them to the One who can touch their deepest needs.

Explore our church! The heart of our church is expressed every day through the devotion of our people. God is doing a good work in us...and we would love for you to be part of it.

Please feel welcome to join us Sunday mornings!

Coming up

On Sunday January 29 we’ll meet for congregational singing at 5 pm, followed by a potluck at 6 pm. Please bring either a pot of soup or a tray of veggies to share. Please see Fay H. if you would like more details.

The get-together for knitters will continue to meet in February on a “drop-in” basis on Wednesdays at 7 pm, but the venue may change. Please see Holly I. for more information.

This is open to anyone, if you fall into any of the following categories:

•      no interest in knitting, but looking for good conversation and a good cup of tea

•      beginner knitter looking for a place to start… and good conversation… and a good cup of tea

•      intermediate knitter looking for pointers and good conversation…

•      advanced knitter looking for good conversation…

If you have supplies, bring them along. If you don’t have supplies, come anyway and bring a friend!

If you’re married, in a relationship and/or a parent, the young families group is for you. The schedule for February is below:

•      Sunday February 5 - Bible study at 5:30 pm at the Church building with childcare provided

•      Saturday February 11 - Valentine’s dinner at Colin and Lindsey M.’s home (more details to follow); please make your own arrangements for childcare

•      Sunday February 12 - no meeting

•      Sunday February 19 - Bible study at 5:30 pm at the Church building with childcare provided

•      Sunday February 26 - no meeting due to the fellowship meal and singing

Interested? Please see Daniel P.

The young adults fellowship and Bible study group is marking the completion of the Truth Project study with a pizza party on Wednesday February 8 at 7 pm. Whether or not you’ve joined the group in the past, if you are a young adult, you are invited to this night of fun and games. There is a suggested donation of $5 towards the cost of food and drinks. The group has decided not to do another formal study for a while, so in the next few months (starting February 15) a different group member will bring something to share and/or a topic to discuss each week. Hopefully, it will be a chance to get to know each other better and to explore a variety of topics. Want more info? See Barb J. or Brian or Crystal M.

Our annual games night and Hearts tournament will have a Valentine theme and takes place on Friday February 17 at 6:30 pm.

On Sunday February 26 we’ll meet for congregational singing at 5 pm, followed by a salad supper at 6 pm. Please see Fay H. if you would like more details.

worship

We use instruments in some of our worship services. If you would prefer to attend a non-instrumental church, you can visit the South Island Church of Christ whose worship service is at 11 am every Sunday. They meet at the Westshore Chamber of Commerce building, 2830 Aldwynd Road, Langford, B.C. (Aldwynd is the first right turn off Goldstream just past the park on the right of the intersection at Veterans Memorial Parkway; the Chamber office is in the first block on Aldwynd on the right). You can contact D. Morton at 250-479-8480, or Sherry Walters (h) 250-478-7275 / (c) 250-216-4501, or email SICOC@shaw.ca for more information.
